I have been searching and searching for a diaper bag that was affordable and stylish. I think i hit the jackpot. This is a first reaction review of Miss Fong's Convertible Diaper Bag.

Before I had my daughter, I would consider myself a stylish and trendy person. I didn't want to lose that sense of style after having a baby, so I searched and searched for the perfect diaper bag. During my research I was slapped in the face with sticker shock. WTF, why were diaper bags so expensive, after all its holding diapers and things that will probably just make the bag dirty! Just like many other fashionable moms, I'm sure you stumbled upon Fawn Design Bags and the hefty $150 price tag that was attached to it. I almost pulled the trigger but could not justify purchasing a diaper bag that was plastic for that amount of money.

Thank god for Amazon. If you type in "Fawn Design" into Amazon search box, the first thing that comes up is Miss Fong diaper bags. I was skeptical, but after reading almost every review of the bag and checking the site daily to see if the bag was still in stock I was sold. There are two versions of the bag, one with traditional back pack straps and one with convertible straps. The convertible straps were a little tricky, but after reading reviews and watching their style videos I finally purchased the brown convertible bag for the price of $46.99.

Pros

  • There is a one year warranty. If it all falls to hell, you can message Miss Fong and they will replace your bag or work with you to fix the issue.

  • Affordable and high quality. The bag is fully lined and both outer PU and inner material are easy to wipe. I have already worn the bag out in the rain and didn't feel panicked when the rain picked up and wet the bag. The water beaded off and it dried without leaving watermarks.

  • The backpack straps are made of woven material similar to seat belt straps. They are extremely sturdy.

  • It comes with a diaper changing pad that matches the bag, another 'seat beat' style strap to attach it to the bag as shoulder style (you can keep both straps on at the same time), and stroller straps.

  • The bag is big, so you can cram tons of baby crap in it. (lets be real - that's most important right?) I was able to put in diapers, two miracle 360 cups, diaper wipes, large legos, the included changing pad, a pack of hand and face wipes, a book, a bib, two burp clothes. ( I will post an update with more pictures at a later time)

  • The zipper is smooth and doesn't catch like other reviewers commented. I think Miss Fong rectified the problem after many complaints.

  • The inner lining is light color so you can see what you packed.

  • Ascetically pleasing, the bag is pretty to look at. The brown, cognac color is just beautiful. I am in love with it. Many reviewers had mentioned how orange it was. I purchased my bag so I'm not sure if I received the new swatch color or if its the original, either way I love the color! It fits with my style and goes with dresses, leggings, boho, preppy, modern and every style in between.

  • The backpack straps and strap positioning fit me perfectly. (see Con)

Cons

  • All the stress from the back pack straps seem to be placed on the top metal strap. I have only had it for a week and I can see the stitches are starting to widen. I hope it holds up.

  • There is no handle on the top of the bag which puts more pressure on that top metal strap. A handle would probablby make the bag look more like a daiper bag and less fashion forward, but it would also make it much more practical.

  • If you use the insulated inner pocket, you cannot use the outer pockets and vice versa. There is just not enough room.

  • The backpack straps and strap positioning fit me perfectly. (see PRO) They do not however fit my husband, and they are not easily adjustable so he will not wear the bag like our old Skip Hop Forma diaper backpack.

  • If the bag is not fully packed the shape of it becomes slouchy.

Overall I love this bag. For $46.99 and with a one year warranty it is certainly worth it. I am thinking of purchasing another one, perhaps pink! Miss Fong just launched a mini version for your mini me or for the minimalist mom who literally carries the bare necessities for their child. (I envy those moms by the way, how do you do it?!) I am happy about my purchase and plan on writing a follow up review in a about a month.
