Using some shortcuts from Trader Joe's, this turkey chili is flavorful and delicious.

  • Preferred cooking oil for browning

  • 1 lb ground turkey

  • 1 package A Dozen Cousins Mexican Cowboy Pinto Beans

  • 1 can chili beans or any preferred bean

  • 1/2 can beef broth

  • 1 packageTrader Joes shakshuka starter

  • 2 tbs tomato paste

  • 1 tbs chili powder

  • 1/2 tbs dried onion flakes

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • Optional - 1 tsp sugar or sugar alternative

Toppings

  • Sour cream

  • shredded cheese

  • green onions

  • crispy jalapeno pieces

  • splash of white modena vinegar

  1. Using a Dutch oven or soup pot, add your preferred cooking oil and brown the turkey. Drain excess oil if there is any and return turkey to pot.

  2. At medium high heat, add everything but the shakshuka starter. Stir and heat for about 5 minutes. Place frozen shakshuka starter in the center of pot.

  3. Cover with lid for 5 minutes. Remove lid and stir in the shakshuka starter making sure there are no frozen pieces. Repeat until frozen pieces have cooked through and evenly distributed.

  4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes.

  5. Enjoy with desired toppings.
